Soul Mate or Soul Tie?
In the quest for happiness make sure that you don't settle for a Playmate when God has a Soul mate waiting for you. Sometimes this is a hard distinction to make; Playmates are tricky. They are so much fun to be with, that sometimes even the smartest of us might be deceived. Worse yet, too many of us attempt to make a Soul Mate out of a Playmate. We ignore every "red flag" that pops-up because we foolishly believe we can make a make Mr. Right out of a Mr. Wrong.
The danger of this is that after years of playing, you will meet your true Soul mate, but by then it may be too late; you might have already made a Life Mate out of your Playmate. Or you may be so battered by the playground games that you are in no shape to be Any-One's Any-Thing. Life is not a game, and your time is too valuable to waste lusting on the playground with someone who is incapable of appreciating the full splendor of You.
Ask the Lord to teach you how to distinguish between THE ONE, and just ANOTHER ONE? Only you, and God knows, what is truly in your heart and mind; but only God knows what is BEST for you.
If you enjoy playing the play-mate games, stay on the playground. There are plenty of Play mates out there to occupy your time. Eventually the playing will lose it appeal; you'll look in the mirror and see that time has stolen your youth and your vigor. Your soul will begin to crave a deeper, more meaningful connection. You'll want the real thing, but you will only know how to be a Play Thing.
This is a bitter word, but if it will encouage you to avoid playing games with your life, then it's worth it. Prioritize! Don't lavish your love on Play mates; and don't exhaust your emotions on extravagant games. Give yourself wholeheartedly without restraint to the One who truly loves you, and make Him your top priority. Remain loyal to Christ, knowing assuredly that He loves you beyond anything you'll ever understand. Unlike your Playmates of past, He will never break your heart, He will never grow bored with you, and He will never switch play mates.
Jesus loves you and He has made you a promise that only He can keep. That promise is that He will never leave you nor will He forsake you. He will only give you His very best, for He is able to look deep within your heart and fulfill your inner-most craving, "your perfect Soul Mate".
